All year long, I’ve had the opportunity to review some great scores from 2010…and some not-so-great (most of which you’ll never hear about).
Now it’s YOUR turn!

It’s time for my annual online survey where you can vote for your favorite film scores of the year. I consulted numerous sites and pulled together a comprehensive listing of film score soundtracks for films (and a couple of TV scores) that have been or will be released in the U.S. this year. This includes those released on CD, download only, or composer promos. Even if it’s just a few tracks on one of those lousy compilation albums, I’ve included it.
I’ve done my best to make the list as comprehensive as possible, but it is likely missing some selections, especially from international films and video game scores. There are just too many of both to keep up with. If you find that I’ve missed a title, you’ll have an opportunity in the survey to add it. I will compile the results and devote a blog post to your choices later in the month.
Click here to take survey. (This link will open the survey in a separate window.)
The survey will close at 12:01 a.m. EST on Saturday, December 18. So don’t delay!
Rock the vote!

Wow. I tried to vote in the poll but, as it turns out, I have not heard a single note from any of the scores you have listed. I guess I’ve heard Doctor Who series 5 on TV, but not on cd. So I didn’t even feel qualified to vote for that.
Sigh.
So far John Adam’s score from I AM LOVED stands out from the many films I watched this year – but I’ll give this list a try – contemporary scores are so generic that most don’t make much of an impression on me when watching a film. Things like CENTURION and NINJA stick out sometimes (and from composers I have never heard of), mainly because I pay more attention to the music than the story on mindless, escapist junk. Sadly, nearly all of my CD purchases this year have been golden-and-silver age releases (the latest that fabulous SUNSET BOULEVARD package). Thankfully you’re here to provide
me with a taste of the music that’s playing out there in the mucky multiplexes or on my next NetFlix rental! :)
i voted but i wanted to add one more vote- unfortunately i cant anymore :(
Easy. Inception.
I don’t understand why John Adams’s “I Am Love” is included; there is little music that was written specifically for that film. It is, in essence, a “cut and paste” job from his works written for concert halls.
One of the best cd releases (albeit just a week ago) is from the Diane Kurys film “Coup de Foudre” by Luis Bacalov: a fine score for which every note was written for the film (released in 1983 as “Entre Nous”).
Yeah, I know it’s a cut and paste job from his concert works (though it’s surprising how many people in the industry and reviewers don’t know that). I put it on the list because the pieces were used as a score and a CD was released. I doubt enough people saw it anyway to vote for it. Then again, we’ll see when the voting ends. :)
