When I interviewed Mark Isham back in September, his new film, BAD LIEUTENANT: PORT OF CALL NEW ORLEANS, was currently hitting the festival circuit. The film, which is directed by Werner Herzog and stars Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, and one of my favorites, Jennifer Coolidge, opens this Friday in select cities. In the ruins of a post-Katrina Big Easy, Cage plays a rogue detective who plays fast and loose with the law, as devoted to his job as he is at scoring drugs.
I received an email from Isham this morning explaining that he ”wanted to do something special before the release.” That something special is an 8-minute suite that he edited from the score. To read more about the score, check out our interview. In his email, Isham said he made the suite “specifically for fans.”
This is one fan who gratefully appreciates it.
